This is one of four posts from our trip to Ireland and Scotland in the Summer of 2019. We have three other posts from this trip from Northern Ireland, Edinburgh, Scotland, and the Scottish Highlands.
We flew into the Manchester, England airport from the US and then took a short flight to Dublin. We went straight to check in to our apartment and then walked to the Jameson Distillery, as Dublin is a very walkable city. We had booked the “Bow St Experience” tour on their website in advance. We arrived early, so we were forced to go to the bar to wait for our tour to start. No complaints there! The tour was very good. We got to taste some during the tour and got vouchers for a free cocktail at the end. After our tour we went to the Temple Bar area and ate at a really good barbeque restaurant called Smokin Bones.

The next day was a full day. We packed a lot in, but not too much. We always want to see as much as we can but not so much that we feel rushed. We went to Dublin Castle (purchased tickets online in advance). Then we went to Christ Church Cathedral. We had just enough time to get to Christ Church Cathedral and tour the church and the crypt (bought tickets that include both at the ticket desk) before our scheduled time to see the Book of Kells and the Long Room at Trinity College. We bought advance tickets online, and both are included in the same ticket.

Our next scheduled tour was at the Guinness Storehouse later that afternoon. We bought tickets on their website in advance. We took a walking route that allowed us to stroll through St Stephen’s Green, one of Dublin’s most beautiful green spaces, as well as St. Patrick’s Cathedral. We didn’t have time to go inside St. Patrick’s, but we were glad to be able to see it from the outside. We made it to the Guinness Storehouse and then had dinner at a really good restaurant near Christ Church Cathedral called The Copper Alley Bistro.
